He lives in the mountains with his friends and loves to eat bananas, as do all monkeys, but he can eat "10 at one sitting" (according to Sanrio). He also likes to tell jokes and stories, and hopes to be a comedian or poet :)
I think Monkichi is a sweet character and I love those rosy cheeks :)
